Schoenbrunn was the former summer residence of the imperial family and is one of the most beautiful baroque palaces of Europe. The largest part of the year resided the Habsburgs in the countless Gemächern, the imperial family in addition to the large spaces needed representation. 1830, Emperor Franz Joseph, who married the charming Sisi, reigned 1848-1916 and was born here. His last years of life spent the monarch in its entirety in the castle, which has been translated, two years after his death, in the management of the new republic. Das Grosse Palmenhaus wurde 1882 im Auftrag von Kaiser Franz Joseph I. nach Plänen des Hofarchitekten Franz Segenschmid (1839-1888) errichtet. Mit seiner Länge von 111 Metern, der Breite von 28 Metern und einer Höhe von 25 Metern ist es das größte Glashaus seiner Art auf dem europäischen Kontinent. Die Eisen-Glas-Konstruktion ist ein architektonisches Schmuckstück des Schlossparks. Das Haus wurde von 1986 bis 1990 generalsaniert.
