Foreign body of the cornea

The picture shows a metallic foreign body perforating the full cornea stroma and penetrating the anterior chamber. The lens is not affected. Typically, this accidental corneal trauma occurred by working without sufficient eye-protection. Therapy consists in extraction of the foreign body and a suture of the perforation wound as well as local antibiotic therapy.
