Structures of the angle can be well recognised stereocopically. From top to bottom: posterior surface of the cornea, Schwalbe´s line, non-pigmented trabecular meshwork, pigmented trabecular meshwork, scleral spur, ciliary body band and iris root. This is an iridocorneal angle from a patient with primary pigment dispersion syndrome. Observe the heavy pigment deposition in the pigmented trabecular meshwork as well a very pigmented Schwalbe´s line. Hyperpigmentation of the pigmented trabecular meshwork can be also seen in pseudoexfoliation syndrome. The picture shows an wide open angle (Grade IV - 35° to 45° - in the scale of Shaffer). |
