Museum and picture gallery

The Baroda Museum is located in the Sayaji Garden (Kamati Baug), in the center of Vadodara. It has an unique collection of European oil paintings as well as Indian miniature paintings, sculptures, coins, textiles, Islamic art, Japanese art and natural history collections, etc. This Museum is the largest one of the Gujarat State. The foundation stone was laid in 1887 by late Maharaja Sir Sayajirao III Gaekwad (1863-1939). The architecture of the museum building was in indo-saracemic style designed by British architects. The museum was opened for public in 1894. The building of picture gallery was constructed later on and work completed in 1914.

Khanderao Market

It was erected by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III in 1906. It was presented by him as a gift to the Municipality to mark the Silver Jubilee of his administration. The offices of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation are located in this building. Fresh Vegetable & Flower market is also located in the back garden. (From Wikipedia)
